BLASTING & PAINTING

‘Protect your assets from corrosion, environmental damage and premature deterioration’

Blasting Process

Abrasive blasting is the process of cleaning and preparing the surface before coating application.

Step 1 – Surface Inspection

The surface is inspected to determine the level of contamination, corrosion, or coating damage.

Step 2 – Abrasive Blasting

Abrasive materials such as garnet, steel grit, or sand are propelled at high velocity using compressed air to remove:

  • Rust
  • Old paint
  • Mill scale
  • Contaminants

Step 3 – Surface Cleanliness

The blasting process achieves the required surface preparation grade such as:

  • Sa 2 – Thorough blast cleaning
  • Sa 2½ – Very thorough blast cleaning
  • Sa 3 – White metal blast cleaning

Step 4 – Surface Profile Verification

The surface roughness (anchor profile) is measured to ensure proper paint adhesion.

Painting and Coating Process

After blasting, protective coatings are applied to protect the surface from corrosion and environmental damage.

Step 1 – Surface Cleaning

The blasted surface is cleaned to remove dust and abrasive residues.

Step 2 – Primer Application

A primer coat is applied to provide corrosion protection and ensure proper adhesion of subsequent coatings.

Step 3 – Intermediate Coat

An intermediate layer may be applied to increase coating thickness and enhance protection.

Step 4 – Top Coat Application

The final top coat provides additional protection and desired finish such as color, weather resistance, or chemical resistance.

Step 5 – Inspection

Coating thickness and quality are inspected to ensure compliance with project specifications.

Why choose us?

What is Blasting & Painting?

Blasting and Painting is a surface preparation and protective coating process used to clean, protect, and enhance the durability of metal and structural surfaces. The process involves removing contaminants such as rust, mill scale, oil, dirt, and old coatings using abrasive blasting, followed by the application of protective paint or coating systems.

Proper blasting and painting are essential to ensure that coatings adhere effectively to the surface and provide long-term protection against corrosion, weathering, and chemical exposure.

This process is widely used in industries such as construction, oil & gas, marine, infrastructure, and industrial facilities.

Applicable Standard and Compliance

Blasting and painting activities are conducted in accordance with internationally recognized standards and coating specifications.

Common standards include:

Surface Preparation Standards

Coating & Painting Standards

Inspection and Quality Control

To ensure coating performance, several inspections may be conducted but not limited to the following:
